The Effect of Talent Management on Employee Empowerment

Summary/Abstract: The new production and service methods that have come forward with the rapid change of today's technology necessitate human resources to have other competencies in this process. Within this frame, mentoring and facilitating leadership approaches provide effective motivation for employee empowerment practices. On the other hand, inviting, hiring and maintaining talented employees who will provide a competitive advantage has been one of the priorities of the human resources department. With the changes in markets due to the impact of globalization, it is becoming increasingly difficult to retain talented employees. With the changes in markets due to the impact of globalization, it is becoming increasingly difficult to retain talented employees. Accordingly, talent management is a necessity for enterprises wishing to maintain their existence and requires long- term and systematic work. The objective of the research is to contribute to the process in question and to try to define the influence of talent management on employee empowerment. In the study, it is also investigated whether the employee empowerment and talent management perceptions of the employees differ according to the number of stars of the enterprise and according to the working hours and educational status of the employees. The research is applied to employees of four-and five-star hotel enterprises operating in Ankara. The data obtained through the scales are analyzed via statistics program. According to research results, talent management has a positive effect on employee empowerment. In addition, while employee empowerment is more common in four-star enterprises, it is seen that talent management practices are more intense in five-star enterprises. It is hoped that the research will contribute to practitioners and theoretical work in the field
