Summary/Abstract: This study involves an explorative review of e-leadership literature and examines the various concepts developed using traditional and e-methods. E-leadership is a critical topic that requires a reassessment of literature to understand how it substantially affects modern leadership. First, the research examines the operational definitions based on the broad e- competencies for e-leadership. Second, the study develops an understanding of the common aspects and differences of traditional forms of leadership and virtual leadership, discusses the current theoretical definition of e-leadership and reports the concrete results and findings from existing studies to develop the similarities and dissimilarities in the case studies with the literature. Third, the research combines analysis of e-leadership to develop an understanding of the vital elements and propositions from the investigations based on the elements identified that could be refined and tested. Fourth, the study analyzes the new challenges and opportunities associated with e- leadership and how the existing leadership theories apply in this new form of leadership. Ultimately, the research investigates how e-leadership is unique from other traditional leadership forms, including its required skills, styles, and application.
