Summary/Abstract: The principle of indivisible security in Europe has resurfaced lately through the efforts of the Russian Federation, via the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, who tried to claim some sort of legitimacy for the expected invasion of Ukraine, based on the disregard of its unilaterally perceived security concerns and the breach by the collective West of this principle, according to the Russian interpretation. It is, for sure, a distraction, and not a real debate, but it is worth looking into, as it is about a vision in the making, an immature and unsubstantiated concept, which was never implemented, but correctly linked with the observance of the general principles behind the UN Charter and CSCE/OSCE founding document, of the rules-based order, as well as the confidence in the peaceful resolution of conflicts and abstaining from the use of force or threatening to use it in international relations.
