Summary/Abstract: Water management plans of ten river basins located on Polish territory were approved at the beginning of 2011. To achieve the Water Framework Directive environmental objectives for each river basin, the core (A and B) and specific activities were planned. The study conducted an analysis of costs and expenditures borne on investments related to water resources in the years 2001-2010. The importance of this sector to the socio-economic development of the country confirms of 0.75 percentage share of GDP and 4.9 of the national economy investment. The investment and planned costs of the water management plans of river basins are crucial for investments related to water and sewage services.
