Who (and How) Should Guide Whom towards Law Enforcement Career

Summary/Abstract: The way of training and replacing professionals have changed with the emergence of Generation Z in the labour market. In their case, traditional recruitment no longer leads to success today. However, career guidance training in law enforcement at the secondary school level could offer several solutions. The study presents the 25-year history of law enforcement occupational guidance training in Hungary, its experiences and problems, and lists the opportunities for renewal. These all could be included in the project that was launched in 2017 and will be running until early 2022. It aims to demonstrate that good quality occupational guidance training is necessary to ensure a continuous and high-quality replacement of new professionals. This requires a precise analysis of the situation and problems, a training portfolio, the development of the teaching materials, and the continuous preparation and training of the trainers.
