Summary/Abstract: After the presentation of the common elements of music therapy and music teaching, i.e. theoretical music courses (music culture and art, solfeggio, Carl Orff’s music pedagogy and Marie Montessori’s pedagogy), it is necessary to notice some similarities between them. This primarily refers to the use of music and its elements in music teaching and music therapy. Teacher and therapist need flexibility in the realization of the established program in order to successfully realize the process in the performance of music therapy sessions and music teaching. Thereby scientific methods of analysis and observation are key to achieving student and/or client progress. The child’s cooperation in activities and the teacher’s desire for an individualized approach to each child are the key to success. The answer to the question on the awareness of music therapy lies in the encouragement of self-expression and spontaneity of the child in making music and improvisation, and the awareness of diversity and responsibility of the roles of music therapists and music teachers. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the development of general musical and cultural awareness and gratitude to those who have instilled a part of themselves into this mission.
