Summary/Abstract: The text explores the problem of the past in the postmodern novel “Time Shelter” by Georgi Gospodinov, seen as an ambivalent phenomenon – with it’s advantages and disadvantages in today’s pandemic world. The topic is particularly relevant, because of the link between being “stuck at home”, imposed by the Covid pandemic, and the “return” to the past, due to natural, – and nostalgic reasons. The author reveals the “presence” of the past in the present and – the future, as well as the humanity’s inability to let go – off it forever, because although harrowing, it is a source of historical and life experience. The article also touches on the problem of the cosmopolitan man, who is “looking” for a home in many “pasts”.
