Summary/Abstract: Ana-Maria Goma was born on August 14, 1946, in Bucharest. Her father, Petre Năvodaru (Peter Fischer), was a former outlawed communist, marginalized within the Communist Party, and banned from the signing after his daughter’s marriage to writer Paul Goma in 1968. Due to the harassment of the Securitate, in November 1977, Ana-Maria Goma and their two-year-old son left for Paris, where they applied for asylum status. Ana-Maria Goma stood by her husband in all his actions and decisions until she died, giving up on her career as an interpreter.
