Summary/Abstract: Ever since the neutrality, the Romanian authorities have tried to remedy the deficiencies in the health system, despite limited financial and economic possibilities at their disposal. As the whole country in Bacau health facilities were scarce and there is a lack of specialists. To meet the demands, the country entered the war event since 1914 Bacau authorities have taken the establishment of new hospitals, the locations chosen are mainly important offices in the county schools. Also, teachers have worked as volunteers in hospitals, and to avoid any inconvenience, some hospitals have been secured. All activities related to health care and the mortuary during the war were coordinated by the Local Action Committee for Medical Aid of the Wounded and Sick. At the beginning of World War I, in Bacau were running nine hospitals. The contagious disease wards were required, many soldiers needing treatment for venereal diseases, typhoid fever or conjunctivitis.
