Summary/Abstract: The chest of drawers comes from the village of Goleszów located in Cieszyn Silesia, and currently belongs to the collection of the Museum “Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park in Chorzów”. The article describes the subject of preservation and restoration of a chest of drawers, and also attempts to establish the history and origin of this piece of furniture. Apart from the descriptions of the preservation works, the technique and technology of making the graining, which comes in two varieties, are presented. The first is a lining made on the basis of a stamp or print, whereas the second one is made by loose painting with a brush.
