Summary/Abstract: The study is dedicated to the personality of Nikola Bulgarina (Nicolaus Bulgarus), who in the last decade of the 14th century managed to permanently fit into the history of the Republic of Dubrovnik. The study devotes a place to his teaching activity in the Adriatic city; his participation in the diplomatic mission of 1396, sent by Ragusa to the Sublime Porte; as well as the non-standard healing practices that Nikola applied at the end of the 14th century. Special attention is paid to the development of Ottoman-Dubrovnik relations in the late 14th century and against this background the role of Nikola, engaged in mediation in the Ottoman court, is clearly evident. In addition to the mentioned public commitments of Nikola Bulgarina, the written sources also reveal details of his personal life. This information is the main focus of the study. The article presents for the first time touches from the portrait of the Bulgarian, outlining his origin, his marital status, his family ties and his property status. Thus the image of a full-blooded medieval person is revealed, a person who at the very end of the 14th century managed to win his own place in the history of Dubrovnik.
