Summary/Abstract: This article analyses carrier sanctions in light of Poland’s membership of the European Union and its obligation to protect the EU’s external borders. It offers an in-depth analysis of the scope of the carriers’ obligations with regard to bringing third-country nationals to the Eastern external border of the European Union and explores ways how these obligations should be fulfilled correctly so that carriers are not obliged to pay administrative fi nes of as much as 3000-5000 euro per person. The research is based on an extensive review of the jurisprudence of Polish administrative courts and takes into account the specificity of this jurisprudence.
