Summary/Abstract: As a military structure, the battalion is the smallest independent operated unit and, in the same time, the brick of the big units organization. The study of the organization, equipment and weaponry of the infantry battalion along of a great armed struggle permits a comparison between the High-Quarters peace doctrines, sitting to the base of the initial units organization and the forms which the war realities impose, and adopted by those involved, many times without a formal accord of the commandments, especially when the commanders ignore the needs that, into the combatants look, assures a better surviving capacity. The work-paper proposes a short and non-exhaustive view about of this type of unit from the Romanian Army along the engagement time in the World War II. Some facts and conclusions can be used for the modeling of the contemporary corresponding military structures.
