Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with the most important moments in the history of Crimean Bulgarians – their migration from Strandzha mountain in Bulgaria to Crimea in the beginning of 19th century, their adaptation there, and their deportation in 1944. It also deals with some issues about the Crimean Bulgarians’ life style and traces the changes in the culture of their community during the periods of migration and deportation. The article seeks to explore the factors that enabled the Bulgarians to preserve their ethnic identity.
