Summary/Abstract: Attention deficit disorder is manifested by a lack of attentional control, more frequent and more severe than that normally seen in peers. The present theoretical study defines attention and delineates attention disorders without hyperactivity. The etiology and epidemiology of attention disorders are also examined in this paper, where possible predictors and predispositions for the development of this syndrome are analyzed. The symptomatology of attention disorders is described using concrete examples, and the latest therapy concepts and recommendations for practice are also presented. The study concludes with some suggestions for therapeutic work and support for the child with attention deficit disorder.
