Summary/Abstract: István Örkény’s The Toth Family, one of the most famous and well-known Hungarian absurd dramas drawing its inspiration from the author’s war experiences, deals with the phenomenon of people going to extremes in submitting themselves to powerful figures. In his staging of the play at Sfântu Gheorghe, the director László Bocsárdi presents the absurd process of subjugation as projected on the whole functioning of the social system in a clear-cut space and setting, according to Enikő Nagy’s theatre review.
