The Seven Maszkura Groups or the Hungarian Student Theatre Troupes of the Students’ Cultural House in Cluj-Napoca

Summary/Abstract: Although the various student theatre companies functioning in the intitution did not bear the name Maszkura from the beginning, Tünde Kocsis frames the history of Hungarian student theatre in Cluj-Napoca from 1976 to 2007 as one and the same movement due to organizational traditions. In her article, which relies heavily on the recollections of former members, she discusses each group in close conjunction with the leader of the company, describing also their operating conditions and major performances, then outlining the identity of student theatre makers that connects the seven groups beyond their differences.
