Summary/Abstract: The last two decades of the 19th century are a time of stronger building of the railroad infrastructure in Slavonia. In the year 1885, the Barč – Pakrac railroad was put into business. It had the main role of transporting wooden materials from the western parts of the Slavonian mounts. In the beginning of the 90s (1893 – 1894), the Osijek – Našice – Nova Kapela – Batrina railroad was built with the Pleternica – Požega branch which passed diagonally through the center of Slavonia and which should have been of strategic value for the development of the economy of this region. In the year 1897, a railroad was put into business which came into Pakrac from the opposite side, from the Banova Jaruga and Dugo Selo area. The notion of building the aforementioned railroads was studied mostly based on documents stored in the Croatian State Archive (the Department for Internal Affairs of the Land Government fund) and the news published in the press of the time (Glasnik županije Požeške).
