Summary/Abstract: During the Russian rule in the territory of the Kingdom of Poland, all the activities of the Polish population aimed at patriotic nature, such as celebrations commemorating historical events and figures, were forbidden. Despite the temporary thaw in the years 1905-1907, significant transformations in this matter took place only with the evacuation of the Russians in the summer of 1915, and then the takeover of power by the armed forces of the states central. Austrians by virtue of their attempts to improve relations with the occupied population introduced many freedoms in the sphere of culture and education, incl. allowing organizing public national celebrations. In Lublin, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian occupation, a series of celebrations took place, the nature of which evolved along with the conditions political, changing its form and size.
