Summary/Abstract: The situation in Ukraine has focused the attention of public opinion on the international courts responsible for the application of international criminal law, seen as effective mechanisms holding accountable those responsible for the violation of the sovereignty of the neighboring state and the violence committed against the civilian population. The article aims to investigate to what extent the International Criminal Court can investigate and prosecute persons suspected of having committed international crimes in the context of these events, what are its limitations of a jurisdictional, procedural or other nature and to what extent there would be alternative mechanisms to satisfy the desideratum of bringing to justice the people who planned, prepared, initiated and ordered the commission of international crimes that have shocked, in recent months, the international public opinion.
