Summary/Abstract: In the fourteenth – eighteen century the economic and social reflections predominantly belonged to the religious area. Still unincorporated in a unitary theoretical corpus, Economics, on its way to becoming a self-reliant science, was served in a conscious manner by religious thought. In essence, the secularization of economic life took the form of a long fight with religious percepts. This is a well-known fact. It is less known that contributions from several personalities of the theological community smoothed the field by preparing the openingtowards modern economy and its proper science. In this regard, we consider personalities such as: Thomas Aquinas, William Ockham, Nicholas Oresme, John Wesley, Luis Molina, St. Augustine etc. Through the analysis of less surveyed documents and by giving them a new interpretation, we emphasize the way in which religious paradigms influenced the emerging of Economics.
