Translation of the Cultural-Specific Words in the Turkish Translation of „The Knight of the Panter’s Skin“

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the difficulties due to the cultural-specific factors of the Turkish translation of "The Knight of the Panter’s Skin”. Based on the comparison of the texts, we will empirically establish the proximity of the original text to the target text and evaluate the literary translation of the text. In assessing the quality of the translation of a literary text, particular importance is attached to the question of the artistic expressions used in the source text and transferred to the target text, such as, for example, the transfer of epithets and metaphors to the Turkish translation of "The Knight of the Panter’s Skin”. The translation of sociocultural concepts is also noteworthy. Our aim is to explore the principle of selecting equivalents and evaluate translator strategies.
