Summary/Abstract: Since its beginning, the Church shaped itself as a community of Christian believers which fully coincides with that of citizens of states, nations or geographical regions in which they spend their worldly life, but with their soul always attentive to God’s eternal kingdom. From the day of the Pentecost to the present, the relation Church-State has seen success, having as spiritual foundation the communion life of the Holy Trinity, but also failure. This study aims to historically rank certain aspects of this dynamic, evolutionary or not, starting from the setting of some terms, such as: theocracy, democracy etc. belonging to the two major Christian families: Eastern and Western.
