Summary/Abstract: The article aims to introduce Helena Brodowska, a folk culture activist, captain of the Peasant Battalions, professor of history at the University of Łódź, and above all, a courageous and sensitive person. During World War II she organised help with great commitment, for the Jewish population persecuted by the German Nazi occupiers. Her self-sacrificing attitude earned her the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1991. Brodowska’s testimonies, and the testimonies of the people she helped save – Narcyz Łubnicki and Marian Małowist – show that effective assistance to the Jewish population required not only the courage of individuals, but above all efficient teamwork. The part of the underground peasant movement with which Brodowska was connected demonstrated such an attitude. Hence, the text mentions various numbers that co-created the organisational network which made it possible to save the Jewish population from the Holocaust. Their names also deserve to be remembered and recorded in the collective memory.
