Summary/Abstract: Based on the current debates in the civil society, the subject of „human rights” is extremely debated on all sides of the globe. Debates on this subject range from the denial of any right or obligation to an excess of restrictive laws or extreme freedoms. The author of this article, starting from the Judeo-Christian premise that the man is created by God, emphasizes that the image of the Creator has been placed in the mind of man and manifests itself in different forms, depending on his beliefs about himself and his experience in relation to God. The best benchmark for formulating human rights and obligations is the Bible which describes the attributes which God has placed in humankind since creation.
