Processing the past performatively - some theoretical principles

Summary/Abstract: In sociological terms, processing the past can be seen as a social function that can be carried out through a variety of public means: public speeches, parliamentary sessions, the setting up of statues and memorials, etc. In this sense, artistic processing is a so-called semi-intrinsic function: it can be carried out in other contexts, but if it takes place in the context of an artwork, it adds some essential aesthetic experience to the realization of the task.
