Summary/Abstract: Seduce Me is to some extent a poetical and very intriguing narrative about a daring and dangerous game. It is daring because it overcomes formal (patriarchal) conventions and dangerous because there is always the possibility of losing one’s self-control. The game in question is seduction and the seducer is Inga Iwasiów. “I regard seduction as an act of communication which transforms into an epistemological decision,” says Inga Iwasiów. The issue is to find a certain type of closeness with another person, a closeness which enables the discovering of oneself and at the same time the expanding of one’s own identity (one’s sexuality). Seduction is very important to Inga Iwasiów because in this way she proves her existence. She never leaves her gender in the “waiting room” because she wants to attract attention as a woman – as a person. Inga Iwasiów flirts not only with men. The seducer wants to establish a real and warm contact with the seduced person regardless their gender. And that is why she does not refer to classic literature in which a woman is a fragile and submissive being and the man is the chief hunter. She prefers unconventional literary examples, e.g. vomiting as a promise of romance or homosexual love, full of subtle passion which evades coarse external constraints. Only one of the three narratives presented by the author refers to relations between men and women. It is probable that this results from her persistence in exceeding social roles. In the first we are told of her disappointment in seduction in the face of a different culture. In the second she reveals how she became an object of seduction in the company of a beautiful and intelligent young woman, a post-graduate student, at a feminist conference. Finally she touches the issue that seems closest to her heart, that of the complex and long-lasting process of seducing a man and this. The seductive language of both the body as well as the mind creates a dynamic relation with the world in which the awareness of the self is in constant movement and is set in various contexts. There is no room for stagnation. Sometimes there are disappointments, but these are part of the game between the seducer and the one who is seduced. Interestingly enough, it is easy to agree with Inga Iwasiów’s final comment to the narratives: “I seduce by writing”. The piece is very seductive and this was clearly the author’s intention.
