Summary/Abstract: After the first shocking deterioration of the monarchy image in the public eye, in 1940, the king Carol II abdicated, leaving behind a destroyed country. General Antonescu, having full power over the leadership of the country, subordonated the monarchy, pushing it at the edge of the political life.
