Summary/Abstract: The music of the Inuit people from the Far North of Canada is a rich but often marginalized tradition. My paper will consider this indigenous traditional music and the issues surrounding it. I will investigate the music of two non-Inuit Canadian composers and their views of the Far North. Finally, I will discuss the music and style of a contemporary musician from the Far North who successfully integrates traditional and contemporary idioms.
