Summary/Abstract: The following article evokes the personality and activity of the university professor and mathematician Dorin Ieșan. He was born on April 8, 1941, in Rădăuți. After graduating from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics (Iași, 1963), he obtained his PhD also in Mathematics. He continued his studies in this field in Italy, where he was granted a scholarship by the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Bologna). Dorin Ieșan was also an associate professor at the International Centre for Mechanical Sciences in Udine (Italy) and at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (Sweden). He was a member of the Romanian Society of Mathematical Sciences, American Mathematical Society and the Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (Germany). Beside his activity as a professor, Dorin Ieșan wrote and published studies and articles concerning micropolar elasticity, thermoelastic deformations, models of elastic rods etc. He was awarded the Prize of Ministry of Education for Scientific Research (1967) and the “S. Stoilov” Prize of the Romanian Academy. Since 2009, the academician Dorin Ieșan has been part of the Editorial staff of the “Analele Bucovinei” magazine.
