Summary/Abstract: This article constitutes an introduction to the present thematic issue of the Philological Forum (issue 1 (15)), which offers new perspectives on and contemporary insights into a large range of issues related to rewriting, reformulation, and the reinvention of norms, while exploring cases in the field of Romance literatures. The issue contains six young researchers’ contributions, organised in two sections that focus on the return of mythical figures and on the forms of rewriting and reformulation respectively, all contributions being aimed at assessing the importance of the elements of repetition and renewal, the processes of semantic construction and aesthetic continuity. Mirroring the arrangement in the contents of the issue, this introduction contains an overview of contemporary research in the area and a critical overview of the papers.
