Summary/Abstract: Since its creation in 1630 by virtue of the penmanship of Tirso de Molina, the myth of Don Juan has become a cultural phenomenon, awakening an unquenchable need for innovation which may be perceived in each of its interpretations. My work will focus specifically on the different conceptions of Don Juanism exhibited in Molière’s play “The Feast with the Statue”, Lord Byron’s poem “Don Juan” and Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt’s play “Don Juan on Trial” elucidated through the metaphor of the chameleon. The comparative study conducted benefits from a thorough analysis incorporating features relating to intertextuality, rewriting and the modern dimension of the myth.
