Summary/Abstract: The article presents the reception of works of Norman Manea in Poland. In 1992, in the Polish magazine about books, Stanisław Barańczak published a sketch about Manea's writing entitled On Clowns and Executioners. Barańczak, a Polish poet, translator, essayist, professor at Harvard University, was an immigrant living in the United States for eleven years. He read Manea's books in English and recommended his work to Polish translators and readers. The books of the Romanian writer were published in the “Meridian” series by the Foundation “Pogranicze”, whose honorary patron was Czesław Miłosz. In 2012, Manea's book entitled Hideout was published by the Czytelnik Publishing House. In Poland, Norman Manea books were nominated for the prestigious Angelus Central European Literary Award.
