Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the diaspora of Bulgarian citizens living in the Near East (Egypt, Syria, and Palestine) and parts of Africa in the 1930-1940s. It is studied by official sources (register of the Bulgarian Consulate General in Alexandria and Cairo), providing information on the ethnic, religious, social and professional background of the members of the colony, as well as through several biographical micro-stories. The main goal is to use statistical and historical methods to study the migrations of Bulgarian citizens in this period and the relationships between representatives of different religious and ethnic communities.
