Summary/Abstract: The article aims, on the basis of newly discovered archival documents and publications, to present the events that preceded and led to the political emigration of Arshavir Chakatouny - commandant and city chief of Yerevan during the First Independent Armenian Republic (1918-1920). After a little more than one year stay in Constantinople and before settling permanently in Paris, Chakatouny lived for two years and eight months in Bulgaria. From the spring of 1922 to the autumn of 1924 he played on the theatrical stages in Varna, Ruse, Sofia, Plovdiv and left lasting traces in the cultural map of the country. Although in Bulgaria and in France the Armenian minority was well received and that the Armenian community had its rich cultural and political life, and that Chakatouny always felt Bulgaria as his homeland, and in France he was successful and respected, despite all this until the end of his days did not leave him feeling, that he was "another," an alien who came from outside, and perhaps the scariest— a non-returner.
