Summary/Abstract: The author of the text presents a brief overview of collections of Czech poetry for children and youth with an emphasis on works published after 2000. The author’s analysis traces the connection between aesthetic and informative functions, provides compositional analysis and analysis of the poetic devices. The author reflects on how poetry writers work with these two functions in their books. She concludes that the collections of poetry for children that deliver the above-mentioned functions may also be appealing to readers in the so-called apoetic age when readers usually reject poetry for various reasons. In the conclusion the author introduces a selection of authors whose books demonstrate the presence of both functions.
