Summary/Abstract: This article explores the imaginary of the masculine and the feminine in the Fulani and Bambara cosmogony. We try to show that there is not absolute masculine or feminine in these two cultural universes, insofar as the feminine always implies a masculine principle and the masculine a feminine principle. And this dialectical principle that covers each of the two categories aims to relativize the power of this category in relation to the other. Moreover, in these two cultures, the attributes of the feminine are often more valuable than those of the masculine.
