Summary/Abstract: The article presents the evolution of formal, graphic and typographic solutions, as well as fundamental changes in the content of the ballads included in the collection entitled Powsinogi beskidzkie by Emil Zegadłowicz. A comparative analysis covered the editions from 1923, 1925, 1927, 1929, 1938 and the editions of the works Ballada o Wowrze (1924) and Ballada o Świątkarzu (1928). The results of the research indicate the important role of the editorial tradition in the formation of Zegadłowicz’s book, confirm the author’s interest in old and Modern Art, and indicate a conscious and deliberate resignation from the latest printing achievements in favor of the former printing workshop. Editions of the Powsinogi beskidzkie are in line with the “idea of a beautiful book”. The evolution of the graphic form of subsequent editions largely testifies to the aesthetic changes that took place in the design of the book in the interwar years.
