Summary/Abstract: The paper will explain the basis of many literary representations of current issues through the traditional understanding of the world as based on the principle of harmonic interrelation between the oppositions, i.e., yin and yang. This approach allows to touch upon an important issue of a relation between traditional literature and contemporary literature, and the analysis of some traditional elements will help to trace those features that form peculiarity of contemporary Korean literature texts, as well as acquire a deeper understanding of the life attitudes specific for Korean culture. Such a vast subject will be specified with the focus on the cases based upon the principle of the oppositions, as well as the idea of unity and harmony as the main goal (and, as the paper cwill show, the main means for reaching it).
