Summary/Abstract: Article describes the result of an experimental research of shyness in preadolescence. The research sample included 174 preadolescents (87 boys and 87 girls). Cheeck-Buss Shyness Scale was administrated on all preadolescents. As results we established that 24,14% of preadolescents present a low and a high level of shyness. The most of preadolescents (51,72%) manifest a medium level of shyness. Girls (31,04%) are characterized by a more accentuated level of shyness comparative boys. The higher level of shyness among girls can be explained through some biological characteristic and family contexts which predispose them to be more sensitive and vulnerable to diff erent situations and circumstances. In terms of age we didn’t attained diff erences between preadolescents of 13 years-15 years. The multiple biological, cognitive and psychosocial changes which preadolescents go through explain the preadolescents’ shyness indiff erent of their ages.
