Summary/Abstract: Ismail Kadare, although a nationally acclaimed writer whose works have been translated into many languages, has not been yet the object of considerable attention by Italian critics. A very important lagoon if considered not only the importance of this author in itself, but above all the fact that his work is the habit of a culture, which with Italy has had an essential relationship. It is unusual that in Italy, a country which in the past has been a lifeline for Albanian literature, Kadare has been translated for a long time from a second language and not from the original language of his works. Only in recent years have been published some editions of latest books written by the author, translated directly from Albanian, but the old translations remains the same, which turn out to be an obstacle to the understanding of Kadare's work. This study seeks to do a brief hisory of reception of the editorial process of Kadare's work in Italy.
