Summary/Abstract: The question concerning the relative autonomy of architecture, as a practice of artistic design, has been discussed in that this relativity derives from the fact that architecture represents more than any other art a social and cultural practice. Furthermore, it has been stated that this relativity becomes manifest in the double identity of architecture as an “autonomous form” and as an “instrument of culture.”
