Review of the publication „Local is Our Future“

Summary/Abstract: The reviewed book is based on a critique of economic globalisation, against which it offers its own positive vision: localisation. The topic of the return of the world economy to the form of stable and sustainable local economies emerged in response to the climate crisis; however, with the advent of the Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine, it has increased in relevance. Unfortunately, due to its uncritical approach, the book does not manage to fulfil its potential. The consistently black-and-white depiction of the harmful global economy and, conversely, the idealised „economy of happiness“ inspired by traditional cultures, as well as the selected presentation approach involving short and somewhat random chapters, are unlikely to convince the reader of the truth of the title chosen for the book.
