Summary/Abstract: Africa in one of the main preoccupations of the Chinese foreign vision and policy. How to address this peculiar continent constitutes a challenging question for the big world powers, interested in accessing this reach natural resources basin avoiding as much as possible its dramatic problems: poverty, non-democratic political regimes, demographics, food security, medical issues, climate issues. China has a specific approach to this challenge. The Chinese strategy is to offer the African states diverse instruments - financial, commercial, political, medical, educational etc. - without much interrogating the nature of their political regimes, and building an alternative international cooperation axis: South-South. FOCAC is one of this multidimensional frames by which China becomes more and more active in Africa. The present article underlines the principal directions and features of FOCAC, suggesting, briefly, some of its difficulties, limits or controversies.
