Summary/Abstract: Herta Müller’s unique writing style which is “at the limit between detailed realism and surreal transposing of reality into dreams and fantasy” brings the reader into a world of terror, in which the characters seem to be dominated by a single emotion: the emotion of fear.In this thesis, we will use the example of the novel “I would have rather not met myself today” to examine how and for what reason fear appears and how the author manages to develop detailled images of horror through text analysis.
