The re-established Diocese of Cluj is inheriting the Stephenian Diocese in the heart of Transylvania

Summary/Abstract: In this jubilee year, when we celebrate a century since the re-establishment of the Diocese of Cluj, we also remember the worthy bishop Nicolae Ivan. There are many achievements left to us by Bishop Nicolae Ivan, but, among all of them, his most dear foundation stands out: the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Cluj-Napoca. a serious concern of Bishop Nicolae Ivan was the formation of the clergy. On October 1, 1924, he opened the Theological Academy in Cluj. This school, with the syncope created by the communist regime, is the foundation of our theology faculty. It is difficult to summarize the achievements of this man sent by God to the Diocese of Cluj. The hundred years of history have him as the fervent center of ecclesiastical achievements. The official journal “Renaşterea”, the printing house, the diocesan library, the museum and many other things were in his care.
