Summary/Abstract: This study is about the efforts to build an urban identity in Didyma, which had a role in tourism in Turkey since the mid-1980s but did not have an urban tourism identity. This framework aims to reveal the urban image envisaged in the minds of the local people and to what degree this image corresponds to the "vegan-friendly city" identity supported by the local authorities in Didyma. The question form, including open-ended questions for this purpose, is announced through the local media in Didyma, conveyed to the people of Didyma, and the data collected from 44 participants were thematically analyzed via MAXQDA. These themes are the things that Didyma brings to mind, how Didyma is described, the meaning ascribed to Didyma, festivals in Didyma, awareness of Vegan Festival, the meaning of being a vegan-friendly city, the meaning ascribed to the vegan-friendly city identity, the lifestyle suitable for vegan-friendly city identity, sustainability efforts of vegan-friendly city identity, and the values associated with Didyma. In addition, the analyses show that Didyma Vegfest is considered an alternative for the promotion of the city but is not considered an element of city identity and that Didyma's climate and clean air may be used as a strong element in the construction of urban identity.
