Summary/Abstract: The paper presents partial results of a questionnaire survey that intends to find out how Slovaks who live in the so-called Low Land (Dolná zem; in Hungary, Serbia and Romania) understand some spoken (colloquial) words, collocations and phrases that contain spoken vocabulary. These are elements of spoken stylistic layer of standard language, which have a significant frequency in everyday language interaction in family, among friends and in a work environment. From the field of informal communication, spoken vocabulary is entering the domain of official communication, in particular the realm of print and electronic media. Analysed were 98 questionnaires collected between February and August 2014.
