Effect of Inadequacy Feelings on Career Futures

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the study is to examine the effects of university students' sense of inadequacy on their career future. In addition, it was also investigated whether students' sense of inadequacy and their perceptions of career future differ according to variables such as gender, field, program, class, birth order in the family, and mother and father education level. The population of the research consists of students registered at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University. 933 university students constituting the sample of the study were selected by convenience sampling method, one of the non-probability sampling methods. A relational screening model was used in the study. In the study, besides the validity and reliability analyzes of the scales, T-test, ANOVA test, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the students' sense of inadequacy had a negative effect on their career future. Significant differences were found in the career future averages of the students according to the field they studied, the program they studied and the grade level they studied. There was no difference between the mean of the students' sense of inadequacy and the students' gender, field, program, class, birth order in the family, and educational status of the parents.
