Summary/Abstract: St. Maximin lived in the 4th century, he was the fifth bishop of Trier and he is well known for his fight in defense of the Orthodoxy against the Aryans, being the one who gave refuge to St. Athanasius of Alexandria, sent into exile by Emperor Constantine, for two years in Trier. He and his successor, Paulinus, are credited with the inflowing of Christianity into the noble class of Trier. Immediately after passing into eternity, he was revered as a saint. An important historian, Bishop Gregory of Tour, testified about the miracles performed at his tomb. It is mentioned every year in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches on September 12 and May 29.
